Type B – Integral Waterproofing

Type B integral waterproofing relies on the structure itself to provide resistance to water penetration. This is achieved through the design and construction of the concrete structure, incorporating specialist waterproofing measures to control water ingress.

These measures can include dedicated waterbars and joint sealing systems at construction joints, movement joints and penetrations, along with waterproofing additives incorporated into the concrete mix to improve its resistance to water penetration.

When properly designed and installed, these components work together to create a continuous waterproof structure, helping protect the building against groundwater ingress and providing long-term protection to below-ground spaces.

Key benefit: The waterproofing is incorporated into the structure itself, providing an integrated solution that works with the concrete to resist water penetration.
